the hostile rime within steeled optics remained covert ‘neath thick lashes. the near perpetual grimace that his features oft bore never once faltered as he spoke. “Pleasure? Oh yes, I’m sure it must be.” hubris acted as an anchor beneath his articulations and egotism stained the very air around them. in his mind, she was privileged to stand before him. “I fail to see what I could possibly gain from the likes of you.”
